The Women’s Business Development Council (WBDC) Women with Impact Business Breakfast & Symposium, held on September 23rd, was the largest event of its kind, in Connecticut, to focus on entrepreneurial women, their accomplishments and their economic impact on the world. WBDC Awards were presented to individuals who have proven their dedication to growing women-owned businesses, and the first recipient of the WBDC Capital Fund was announced. This year’s event grew by over 10 percent from last year with more than 700 national and regional business, political and social leaders in attendance. Some of these were: Senate Majority Leader Bob Duff (D-Norwalk), Kimberly A. Blackwell, CEO, PMM Agency, a 2015 EBONY Magazine Power 100 honoree; Lesley Jane Seymour, media entrepreneur, former Editor-in-Chief of More magazine; Betty Spence, president, National Association for Female Executives, and Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-CT).
